Well to the people who are not familiar with the term, "Shabby Chic", basically go fetch a few looks at Rachel Ashwell's beautiful site, shabby chic. You will begin to marvel how a world of pink and white funiture can really make a woman's home a marvelous mansion! LOL After years of being a Shabby Chic store owner, I have been asked by several of my clients to create a site and blog...Well the blog is the first to make it! LOL
One thing is for sure, Shabby Chic rules my home! Ten years ago I began to feel more girlee, more romantic, more in touch with my girlee side and began to exchange our treasured furniture for that shabby faded chippy white aged antiquities found at flea markets near and far. My poor dh, the man of the house, has seen his favorite dark chairs and such get coated with several layers of buttery cream and faded pink paint..chippy and sandy...the poor guy!!!! Although he never complained, I could tell his masculine side began to suffer. So indeed he began recollecting his favorite old leather bomber chairs and side tables and rented his own storage unit. Good for him because our basement is now in his hands. One of my favorite designers is remaking it into his masculine haven! LOL For football fans and alike.
So how does one suddenly change from dark brown furniture to white chippy romantic furniture? Ahh it is just a subtle change that requires a tad bit of patience as you add peices to your decor. And don't forget the dark wood and dark painted pieces still go beautifully with these white wonders. This style of Shabby Chic is just the most relaxing enticing way to decorate your home..IMO! One of my favorite pieces..the shabby pink roses dresser...too cute..too darling for any little chic girl...Stay tuned for more! :)
